DUP Vote to Spend £1/2m on Gun Club at Hamilton Road Community Centre

LATEST ON THE GUN CLUB CAMPAIGN

Over 1000 people have now signed the two petitions against the councils proposal to spend  £1/2 Million pounds on providing a gun club in the basement of the new community centre.

Five of the councillors who supported this waste of public money lost their seats in the recent election.

The plans are now with the planning service and I understand there has been an objection from the Road Service.

The local government auditor has also expressed concern regarding the economic appraisal of this proposal and the failure of the council to follow good practice i.e Lack of public consultation and inadequate time for councillors to examine the proposals. Further discussions are taking place.

The councils equality panel has also concerns about the proposed management of the new facility and has raised a number of questions.

The campaign goes on until these issues are resolved.
